Like father like son: LeBron and Broony James make NBA history in Lakers win vs Wolves

No father-son duo has ever played in the same team during an NBA season.

In a groundbreaking moment for the NBA, LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, made history as the first father-son duo to share the court in a regular season game. 

This historic moment unfolded during the Los Angeles Lakers’ season-opening win against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

 The crowd went wild as 20-year-old Bronny entered the game alongside his legendary father, with four minutes left in the first half.

Bronny’s brief appearance saw him grab a rebound in three minutes of play, while LeBron, now in his 22nd NBA season, contributed 16 points to secure the Lakers’ 110-103 victory. 

Although Bronny, a rookie selected as the 55th pick in the NBA Draft, isn't expected to get much playing time this season, his presence on the court alongside LeBron marks an unforgettable moment in basketball history.

After the game, LeBron, one of the world's richest sportsmen, was emotional as he spoke about the experience. 

"It's always been family over everything," he said as per Al Jazeera.

"I lost a lot of time because of this league... so to be able to have this moment where I am working still and I can work alongside my son, it’s one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever got from the man above, and I’m going to take full advantage of it."

For LeBron, this moment fulfilled a long-held goal of playing with his son, a dream he's talked about for years.

 At 39, LeBron has yet to confirm when he’ll retire, but this moment with Bronny stands as one of his proudest achievements. 

As for Bronny, this is just the beginning of his journey in the league, and he will be no doubt looking to carve out his own legacy while following in his father’s legendary footsteps.
