The Flamingos of Nigeria are ready to take on Ecuador in their second group game at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The match will take place at the Cibao Stadium on Saturday, October 19, 2024, with kick-off scheduled for 9 PM Nigerian time. Fans can catch the game live on FIFA Plus and StarTimes.

The Flamingos had an impressive start to the tournament, defeating New Zealand 4-1 in their opening match. Coach Bankole Olowookere’s team showcased their attacking strength, scoring four goals within 55 minutes. Shakirat Moshood opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, assisted by Harmony Chidi.

Khadijat Adegoke added the second in the 13th minute with help from Faridat Abdulwahab. Abdulwahab made it 3-0 in the 28th minute, assisted by Moshood. Taiwo Afolabi sealed the win with the fourth goal in the 55th minute, assisted by Adegoke.

Although New Zealand pulled one back in the 60th minute through Hannah Saxon, it wasn’t enough to trouble the Flamingos.

Ecuador also made a strong start, defeating the host nation, Dominican Republic, 2-0. Jaslym Valverde Tenerio was the star of the match, scoring twice within the first half, with one goal assisted by Camacho Roldan.

This game will be crucial as both Nigeria and Ecuador aim to secure a spot in the knockout stages. Nigeria, aiming to build on their third-place finish in the 2022 edition, will look to maintain their momentum.

Coach Olowookere will hope his players deliver another strong performance. Striker Harmony Chidi, who has drawn comparisons to Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen, is expected to play a key role.
